The Hooded Hero’s Foundation

Mission Statement: A movement of Welders helping future Welders overcome financial obstacles to have the proper PPE and necessary tools for their education.

Since Joey has been working as an Instructor, he has learned that students are able to apply for grants but those grants don’t always cover the extra expenses of proper PPE.  Most of these students are in school 40 hours per week and still trying to work so they can pay for rent and food.  We would like to help take a little stress off of them. On Instagram when Joey and Kayte were live with Devon we started talking about this and how great it would be to start this movement.  So many people started commenting that they wish something like this was around when they started school and they would love to pitch in and help. Which began the movement of welders helping welders, and is now the basis of The Hooded Heroes Foundation.  Growing up we were both taught to pay it forward when you can.  This is our way of doing that.  We also want to help students not have to give up on their dreams of being a welder because of financial obstacles.

Different ways people can help: Donations for a raffles to help raise money.  Donations or discounts of products to help these students.  Not everything needs to be brand new.  If you have gently used Shirts or FR Shirts, Old Welding Hoods you don’t use anymore, or Grinders, etc.  Items we are hoping to help students get: FR Shirts, Hoods, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Boots, Lens, Welding Caps, Grinders, and notebooks (if anyone can think of anything else that we missed we are open to suggestions).

Partnering with different schools: We are open to partner with all schools.  We have went through and started following multiple different schools to try get the word out there that we are here to help if any of their students need a little extra support.  We would love for people to share names of more schools so we can contact them also.

Application process: Write a 250 – 500 word essay that includes: What school you go to?  What process you’re most interested in?   The kind of work you want to do after school.  Explain “Why Welding”?  Why you deserve help?  What got you interested in welding?   Tell us a little bit about their self.   What are you in need of?

Sometimes, the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step.
